A winter morning .....

On a cold winter morning ...
sun gently tip toed into my sitting room
 giving a very cosy feel..
Like the sunshine in the morning
may it brighten your day....

And when the sun started to set after a long days work
it painted the sky in an amazing color palatte ...

Rainy Day Musings...

 Drops of rain
form a trail...
Pitter Patter
and then they gently glitter
A gentle breeze
makes the curtains flow
...and sweet smell of moist earth
 Raindrops streaming from my window

Isn't it amazing
How  tears and rain alike
Can cleanse the stains that living brings
and leave all fresh and bright....

Worlds tallest brick minaret " Qutub Minar "

At the break of dawn we reached Qutub Minar,  which happens to be most visited monument with footfalls of about 10,000 visitors a day. That's quite a number...after parking the car we were welcomed by drooping clusters of yellow...

Monument made of red and buff sandstone ...a sight to behold.

The monument is covered with intricate carvings and verses from the  Quran

The iron pillar stands tall without rusting.... it is certainly a wonder in itself. It bears inscriptions in Sanskrit and Brahmi which dates back to the Gupta period.

The monuments around the minaret are labyrinths of pillars , with splendid figures incised on them..This wondrous monument was built in a time span of just 4 years , 1600 years ago...! It is a symbol of Indo- Islamic architecture and it screams loud about Mughal rule in India.

I would have zipped across this complex many a times but didn't pay much attention ....if you are in the capital city squeeze in some time and do pay a visit to this architectural and metallurgical wonder..!

Oasis of peace.....

Took a short break from the blogging world and the scorching heat of Delhi . It has been a decade since i last climbed mountains. It was  a seven hours long drive to touch the lower Himalayas. I was mesmerised by the sights of gnarled tree trunks and mysterious green silence that stretched into the distance.

Slopes clad with mighty oak trees... sunlight gently filtering through the trees.......feasted my eyes on sea of green dotted with white flowers growing wild .....grey mountains with a splash of pink to add that lovely color .....butterflies dancing around ...... .I inched my way forward ....the forest was alive with chirping of birds , tick ticking of insects and the gurgling sound of the stream.

The next  four days we spend in a quaint retreat in pangot.......dotted with small cottages and with wild rose creepers on walls and gates.

The dining hall..!

After my meals I would sit here the whole afternoon watching the birds by the water having a great time...

Pangot a small village......

Loved the contrast of colors ....blue and orange.

 The stream and ME...

White ribboned stream cutting through the rocks.....

Sunlight gently filtering ....

Shadows..

Pangot  ...peaceful place away from the humdrum of the city.Next time, I promise, myself, I am not going to stay away this long.......
